WhatsApp tests new Facebook integration on user profiles
WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that lets users add their Facebook profile link directly to their WhatsApp profile. The update was spotted in version 2.25.29.16 of WhatsApp Beta for Android, according to the website WABetaInfo.
How the feature works
Similar to the existing Instagram integration, users can now add their Facebook username within their WhatsApp profile settings. This update aims to make it easier for contacts to find each other across Meta’s platforms, reinforcing the company’s ecosystem connectivity.
If the WhatsApp account is linked to the same Meta Account Center, the Facebook link will display a verification badge, confirming ownership and helping prevent fake profiles or impersonation attempts.
Privacy and visibility options
Adding a Facebook link is completely optional and can be managed in the app’s privacy settings.
Users will be able to choose who can see their Facebook link, selecting between:
- All contacts
- Specific groups
- No one
Availability and rollout
Currently, the feature is available only in the Android Beta version, but it’s expected to arrive on iOS (iPhone) soon.
There is no official release date yet for the global rollout.
With this integration, WhatsApp continues to strengthen Meta’s strategy of connecting its main platforms — WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram — into a unified experience.
