Sora 2 now lets users create up to 15-second AI videos for free

Sora 2 adds longer video limits and new Storyboard mode for Pro users

OpenAI’s Sora 2, its AI-powered video generation tool, received a major update this Thursday (16).
From now on, free users can create videos up to 15 seconds long, while Pro subscribers can produce videos of up to 25 seconds.

The announcement was made on the official OpenAI account on X (@OpenAI) and marks a notable upgrade in creative flexibility.

What’s new for Pro users

In addition to the extended time limit, Sora Pro users now have access to a Storyboard mode, allowing them to control scene composition and transitions with greater precision — ideal for cinematic and structured storytelling.

The new feature is available on the web version of Sora.
To showcase the update, OpenAI released a 24-second AI-generated video, highlighting smoother motion, improved camera dynamics, and enhanced visual consistency.

Shorter clips are now a thing of the past

Previously, free users were limited to 10-second clips.
With this update, OpenAI reinforces its goal of making AI video creation more accessible, offering longer and more refined output even to non-paying users.

Sora 2 continues to stand out as one of the most advanced synthetic video tools available, combining sound, realism, and visual coherence from simple text prompts.
